Sunday Worship

Our worship services are relevant, inspirational and casual.  You won't find robes and slow hymns at Via de Cristo. You will find a positive atmosphere, encouragement for your faith journey, and people who will stay with you through the good and the bad.

What's it like to come to a worship service at Via de Cristo?

When you walk in the building, you'll be greeted by people who are glad to see you. We guarantee it. The first thing you'll see will be Cafe de Cristo, where you'll find fresh coffee with tables and seating.

We'll invite you to write out a name tag so people know your name - and you'll know the name of everyone around you. If you arrive early, grab a cup of coffee and meet some of the people around you. How many other churches have you seen where people arrive early so they can site in the cafe and visit?

Our worship service starts at 9:30. We encourage families to bring their kids to the beginning of the worship service. Little kids can grab a coloring book on the way in and bigger kids will enjoy singing our up-beat songs.

Right away you'll notice that the service is about connecting with other people. We want to hear what people are grateful for and who needs help through difficult times.

During our children's moment, the kids are invited to the front of the room to sit down for a short lesson and prayer. Even the kids have name tags - many children are surprised on their first visit to be welcomed by name and encouraged to contribute to the lesson. Children are then dismissed to their Sunday School classes, or they can go back to their seats and stay with their parents.

During the reflective part of the service, we all join in centering and prayer. Pastor Ken sets the context of the reading by describing the culture, history or research behind the reading. After the reading, Pastor Ken's sermon may incorporate video, ideas from members, and ideas from books that will be discussed in the adult bible study. Sermons are focused on applying your faith in Jesus Christ to your everyday life.

We close each service with the sharing of the bread and cup of Communion.

We use a variety of contemporary musical styles to encourage wide participation. Our instrumental and vocal ensembles are made up of both professional and amateur musicians who enjoy making music together and come to lead the congregation in inspirational worship.

At our core, we are an informal gathering of people seeking spiritual maturity, meaningful study, and community with others. Via de Cristo is an open and inclusive community that welcomes everyone who walks through our doors.

Professional nursery care is provided during the school year from 9:00am to 11:00. Kids ages preschool to 5th grade start out in the service and then head out to our Kids de Cristo Sunday School after the children's moment.
